WORDS

As Rome approaches the big O N E, I wanted to document his verbal skills.  I have no idea if he's ahead of the game, behind the game, or playing it safe.  Nor do I care.  He is perfect in every single way in my eyes, and that is all that matters to him at this point.  Here's a list of the words he has said, if even just once:

Ma-ma
Da-da
Nah-yee (Rome for "Nollie")
NO! (loud, proud and usually accompanied with a whack at whatever's in front of him - starting to show some strong emotions!)
Nooooooo (usually directed toward Nollie with a finger point - I wonder where he got that from?)
Yes
Shoe
Bye-bye
Whoa
Uh-oh
Good Gurr (to Nollie, repeated after me - doesn't happen very often)
Take you (Rome for "Thank You")
A, B, C, D... (sung in cadence to the Alphabet song, however he has yet to repeat it for anyone else, so I'm out here on a limb...but I swear he did it for me about 6-7 times in one car trip)
Abu Dhabi (not sure what Lisa's reading to these kids at daycare, but he sure does talk about the middle east a lot ;)

However, for the most part, it's still mostly jibber-jabber.  We have a blast "talking" about absolutely nothing.  He thinks he's saying really important stuff...and I'm sure he is.  I just do my best to understand, or at least act like it.  The truth is, this language stuff is absolutely fascinating to watch evolve.  Rome clearly understands most everything we say to him, and it is really cool to see the action-reaction play out. Here's a video of him jabbering to Da-da.

THE MOST INTERESTING BABY IN THE WORLD

It is said that his baby talk can be understood in 47 different languages.

His diapers actually change themselves.

The Dalai Lama consults with him on issues of world peace.

He has Letters of Intent waiting to be signed from 13 different colleges.

Professional athletic scouts have already came, just to watch him crawl.

At birth, he cut his own umbilical cord.

When he crawls into a room, all of the babies hand over their toys.

He once cried, just to see how it feels.

He is....

PUCKER UP

This picture was taken yesterday at our Easter celebration.  Finley and Rome had a great time destroying sand castles in the sand box, as seen above.  Everyone wore their Easter Best and we ate like champs!  The kids AND the grown ups had an Easter Egg hunt, and there was an egg-dying station that the kids enjoyed!  Of course I dressed him in a white shirt for egg dying.  So, my friend sent me this picture from Easter Sunday, which reminded me to write about Rome's new "trick".

As if this kid doesn't already lay on the charm thick enough, he woke up Saturday morning and decided to melt Travis and my hearts right into the bed where we were all snuggling.  We always have snuggle time in bed while he takes his morning bottle.  Usually when he gets done, he (literally) throws the bottle and (literally) starts climbing the walls.  For some reason, this Saturday, he decided he wanted to be a lover.  He leaned over to Travis and planted a big "mmmmmmmmuaaa" right on his cheek.  We both started laughing hysterically and then he climbed over to me and puckered up his lips and kissed me right on the lips. Talk about turning into putty.  He must have liked our reactions, because he just kept going back and forth giving out kisses.  He even tried to give Nollie one, of which she looked at him like "ugh, at least you didn't smack me in the face".

Another milestone (if you want to call it that) he had this weekend was pretend talking on the phone.  We were walking through Target getting some things other than what we actually came for (as Daddy would tell you), and all of a sudden he picks up my phone and started jabbering:

eh beh?  yah jibah de ba.  um...no be.  bye bye.

He actually had a conversation with this imaginery person on the other end of my phone.  Ah, the little things!  He's growing up, this little stud of mine.
