CARDINALS WIN THE WORLD SERIES!!!

The following story is especially written for Rome to have and remember.  For you regular blog viewers, I'm sure you witnessed one of the best World Series ever!  If not, you missed out!

With a month to go before the Playoffs, the Cardinals were 10.5 games out from making the cut.  They proceeded to win the majority of their remaining games.  The only saving grace was the fact that Atlanta Braves (their competition) happened to lose most of their games.  It still came down to the last game of regular season (their 160th game of the year).  They had to win to make it.  And, they did!  Next came the National League Division Series.  They had to play the best team since they were the wild card.  They played the Phillies and beat them 3-2 in a 5-game series.  Next up was the National League Championship Series.  The Cardinals blew through the Brewers, beating them 3-1.  Whew!  On to the World Series.  They played the Texas Rangers in STL to begin with.  They started off the series with a W.  The next game, the Rangers came back and beat us.  After those games, it was off to Texas.  We won the 3rd game (the 1st one in Texas).  Albert Pujols his 3 home runs in one game!!!  Then, the Rangers answered in game 4 to make it tied 2-2.  Rangers came back the next night and pulled off another win.  It was 3-2 Rangers and back to St. Louis for the final two games.  If the Rangers win this game, they are the World Champions.  Game 6 was the best game I have ever seen!  You apparently wanted a piece of the action too.  You woke up around the 4th inning and again in the 7th inning and stayed up until the 10th inning.  I kept trying to get you back to sleep, but you were fussy and wanted to stay up.  I wonder why?!?  Rachel and I were silent celebrating every time a run came in (or silent cursed the TV every time an error was made) trying not to wake you up again.  Travis had gone to a concert that night with Rhett and had me tape the game for him.  I guess he was expecting just another baseball game.  And he is the biggest Cardinals fan I know!  He somehow managed to not allow himself to hear anything about the game the next day though and watched it later to find out for himself how exciting it was.  It was intense!  2 runs for the Rangers, 2 runs for the Cards, 2 runs for the Rangers, 2 runs for the Cards.  We tied it in the bottom of the 9th to make it to extra innings.  In the 10th inning, the Rangers scored 2 more points to make it 9-7.  Aaaaahhh!  Cardinals came back with a vengeance.  They tied it AGAIN!  The Rangers didn't score in the top of the 11th inning.  The 1st batter up in the bottom of the 11th was David Freese.  He had been clutch all post-season and this was no exception.  He stepped up and hit a game winning walk off home run!  CARDINALS WIN!  Game 7 was exciting, but not as exciting as Game 6.  Cardinals won 6-2 and won their 11th World Series in franchise history in 2011, the year you were born.  Woo hoo!
Way to go, Cardinals...2011 World Series Champions!!!
