BIRTHDAY WEEK IN GRANBY

Hiking along a trail on Sol Vista Mountain Resort
Rome and his entourage (I don't think he let go of that birthday balloon without a screaming fit for at least a week)
Great view from the hike (our low-altitude parents were troopers)
Rome fell asleep on the hike (and yes, he's still holding onto the balloon)
The ladies took Rome to the hot springs for some relaxation.  Yee-haw!
An intense game of 31 - the Moms got their poker face on
Oh Romeo, you have so many wonderful ladies that love you!
Hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park
Rome and Daddy in the Colorado River
We stopped to stretch our legs...and tai chi?
Rome's harnessed his chi as well
Look out ladies!
This past week was great having both our parents in town to celebrate Rome's birthday.  We booked a condo up in Granby for the week so we could all be together without being on top of each other.  It's so nice to get out of the city without having to "rough it", and we love getting off the beaten path with our parents to show them different parts of Colorado.  We stayed at the base of Sol Vista, a mountain resort near Granby.  We rode bikes, hiked, did some shopping in downtown Grand Lake, went to the National Park, the guys played golf and the girls (and Rome) went to Hot Sulfur Springs.  I think that was probably the biggest joke of the week.  When we showed up at the hot springs, I opened the door, took in a deep breath of fresh air and said "Mmmmm, smells like a giant fart".  The Springs were relaxing, as long as you could get over the smell and the fact that you were soaking in what appeared to be egg drop soup.  The people at the front desk said the white floaty stuff is great for your aging skin and that you should rub it in.  Being the youth-seeking missiles that we lovely ladies are, we took their advice...maybe a bit too far.  Feeling like a million bucks all loosened up and ready for a nap, we rinsed off and headed home.  We must have gotten used to the smell because when the guys got home, they were overtaken by the stench that we had brought back with us.  For the record, it takes approximately 3 showers to rid yourself completely of smelling like sulphur.

A big thanks goes out to Grandma and Grandpa Bostic and Grandma and Grandpa Ferguson for making the trip out to Colorado to share this special time with Rome.  It was as if Rome knew he had to spread his love around evenly, because he would bounce back and forth between them all.  He was his usual charming self - giving out hugs and kisses, pretend talking on the phone, saying "nigh-nigh" while lying his head down, and giving an occasional whack on the face to see if we're paying attention (I'm working on it people, don't judge!).  The cold/teething made him extra love-y, which I'm positive suited the grandparents just fine!

Happy Mothers Day to my Mom and Cathy.  We love you and appreciate everything you do!
